Justad Glass is a line of decorative, functional, and novelty handmade glassware created by artist - Jenn Justad.

I designed and created a digital scene to complement and promte one of the glass tumbler collections designed & made by Justad Glass. All images were created in Blender & all objects were modeled and textured by me. (This is a demo)

Allina Hospice provides palliative, compassionate, and spiritual care to patients with terminal illness in home settings or at their care centers. Families of patients are also provided spiritual and bereavement care.

This commission consisted of two parts: an installation and gifts to grieving families, the concept of each was the idea of Allina hospice chaplain and program director Steven Robertson. The installation below was designed by Allina Hospice chaplain and artist Gregory Gilbert. He made each wire tree by hand and installed them in their own ceramic pots. Every tree represents a season and is adorned with hundreds of glass leaves, representing the hundreds of people who pass away in Allina’s hospice program each season. This installation honors those who have died and provides a space for grief and quiet reflection for their family, friends, and caregivers. In total, I created over 1,700 glass leaves using both hot-sculpting and kilnforming techniques.

The second part of this commission included creating glass leaves to be gifted to families of those who passed away in Allina’s hospice program. I designed (with input from Gilbert, Robertson, and Allina’s committee) and created 4,170 kilnformed glass leaf ornaments in different colors representing each season.

Each leaf measures approximately 3-3/4” x 2” x 1/8”.

MAPL is a master’s program which helps students learn how to ethically bring about social change and influence public policy. Students gain the skills needed to create change through learning theory and practice. Each year, I created solid, hot-sculpted clear glass apples adorned with gold leaf for graduates of the MAPL program. The program name along with the recipients names were added directly to the surface of the apple through a carving process called sandblasting. Please note, this photo provided is an in-progress photo & in-the-studio photo of the apples before text was added. In order to respect the privacy of recipients, I do not share images of the completed awards.

Rescape Awards

Minnesota Brownfields is non-profit dedicated to the efficient cleanup and reuse of contaminated lands, enabling sustainable land use and development. For years, the organization held a yearly award ceremony recognizing individuals, businesses, and organizations for their projects cleaning contaminated sits and turning them into something sustainable and valuable to the surrounding community like parks, affordable housing, etc.

The text featured on the completed awards has been intentionally blurred because it contains names and workplaces of recipients.

The featured awards in the image provided were hot-sculpted, transparent dark grey glass stones, each adorned with a different handmade kiln-formed glass ginkgo leaf. The MN Brownfields wanted the awards to incorporate themes of nature, renewal, and transformation.

I chose to create ginkgo leaves because they’ve existed for over 200 million years on earth, surviving extinction events. Their resilience and adaptability has influenced their meaning across cultures to represent the cyclical nature of life, which seemed perfect for the awards. I chose to have the leaves resting on a stone to represent the fragility, delicate balance, and beauty of nature.

I sculpted the glass ginkgo leaves out of wax and used a delicate kiln-forming process know as pate-de-verre to create the finished leaves.
