Video Description:

The video shows a weather forecast appearing to be from 1993, featuring weather for Minneapolis, MN. Vaporwave music plays in the background. A stylized eye momentarily appears in place of the sun displayed on screen. As the video continues, current (as in 1993) temperatures for several U.S. cities are displayed. Once again, a stylized eye momentarily replaces one of the suns displayed on screen. There is a text ad for cellular phone bags displayed at the bottom of the screen. Eventually, the video appears as though something is malfunctioning. The weather forecast disappears and the music abruptly stops.

As the malfunction continues, steady sounds of distortion and faint music begin to sound in the background. A forecast suddenly appears on screen for Minneapolis, MN but for July 6, 2053. The forecast reveals unusual, dangerously hot temperatures and severe weather. Alerts are issued for air quality, including recommendations for sensitive groups to evacuate or find oxygen and cooling shelters. There is a transition to a commercial for digital windows. The windows allow for standard use or the option to display an image, blocking the view to outside. The commercial plays in full and transitions back to the forecast for Minneapolis, MN in 2053. Severe storm conditions and excessive heat are expected for the rest of that day. Once again, there appears to be a malfunction on screen.

Eventually the sounds of distortion come to an abrupt end. The forecast for July 6, 1993 returns on screen and vaporwave music plays in the background. As the video plays, the following day’s expected weather for Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York City are displayed. The forecast transitions to a commercial promoting the efficacy and safety of using plastics to store food. The commercial plays in full and transitions back to the forecast, displaying expected weather for the remainder of that evening. A text ad for the restaurant Tequilaberry's and their prime rib loft is displayed at the bottom of the screen. The screen begins to malfunction and the weather forecast disappears, revealing a test screen featuring color bars and a high-pitch sound - typical of technical difficulties occurring on cable, satellite, or over-the-air television. Artist Alli Luhmann's name and logo appear on as the final image on screen following the video.

But today there are materials that help block out harmful contaminants and reduce spoilage, keeping us safe and the food we eat fresh. Plastics… make it possible… so now the rest is history.
